Chief Accountant

Job Description

A midsize accountancy company located near Utrecht is looking for a Chief Accountant.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee the entire accounting department.
• Conduct training sessions to ensure the team stays updated on skills and knowledge.
• Lead tax interviews with clients and collect necessary documentation.
• Advise business owners and individuals on tax codes and regulations.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships.
• Mentor and train junior staff, clerks, and bookkeepers.
• Address potential compliance issues proactively.
• Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations.
• Uphold and enhance the firm’s strong reputation.
• Maintain regular communication with the IRS, state agencies, and clients.
• Implement tax consultation and onboarding processes for new clients.
• Organize and update client files consistently.
• Collaborate with other teams to meet collective goals.
• Report directly to the Operations Manager.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of management experience.
• Extensive experience in corporate and personal tax matters.
• Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and accounting databases.
• Detail-oriented with a consistent and accurate approach to work.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Professional phone and email etiquette.
• Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment.
• Motivational leadership skills and the ability to lead by example.
